Signing Up

Signing up to Stan James Poker is a simple and straight forward process. Anybody with a Stan James betting account need only download the poker software and pull up a seat at the table of their choice.

Opening a new account is just as easy and if any assistance is needed then i can highly recommend the customer service department who i found polite, helpful and informative as well as their impressively quick responses.

Upon signing up all players are automatically eligible for a 100% first deposit bonus up to $500.

Software

Stan James is a part of the Microgaming network, which im sure most players are familiar with. It is reliable and uncomplicated, well laid out and clean looking.

Plenty of filters in the lobby for each particular form of the game,as well as a "buddy list" where you can add people when at the same table and then be kept informed of when and where they are playing(should really be named fish list lol).

There is also a "my favourite games" filter where you can select to put your favourite games so they are even easier for you to find.Direct links to banking, casino and support also feature in the lobby.

There is a rabbit cam feature, meaning if the hand ends on either the flop or the turn you get to see the next card,so you can see if you would have hit or not without having to out in chips to see it.

Fold and show is also another feature of microgaming where if you are last player to act you can show your cards before folding, which can be a tactical weapon.

So all in all a lot to like about the Stan James software.

Ring Games

With the microgaming network there is a vast array of cash games ongoing at all times at Stan James. The vast majority of these are no limit holdem, with plenty of tables running from the smallest stakes up as far as $1/$2. Beyond this level the tables are noticably lower in numbers.

However there are plenty of fish swimming around at the lower levels, the constant stream of players from casino and slots is most surely a positive benefit to a good players bankroll.

There is a badbeat jackpot if you wish to play at those tables with the chance of scooping a nice share of the spoils should it occur while you are seated.

Tournaments

The MTT scene at Stan James is a lively one. There is over $122,000 in guarranteed prizepools each day,and while field sizes are sizeable they are not too big.

Again, much like the cash games, plenty of weak players floating around in the mtt scene which should again mean it is a profitable venture for a good player.

MTT scene is rounded off each week by their flagship $150,000 GTD,which is a $60 rebuy. There is also a vast array of smaller buy-in mtt's for the more recreational players and fast structured mtt's are also available.

8/10

Sit & Gos

The sit & go scene at Stan James will suit the smaller stakes player more than a bigger player. There is plenty of action at all levels up as far as $10 in 1 table,multi-table and heads-up sit&go's.

Standard overall is pretty weak, this obviously attracts one or two competant regulars but there are more than enough weak players contributing for you to grab more than your fair share.

7/10

Support

As i mentioned in my opening,i was vastly impressed with the Stan James support service.

We have all had experiences of waiting and waiting for replies via email from poker sites but with Stan James the response time was amazingly quick, and the staff were informative, polite and more than helpful.

In some cases i was even given more elaborate explanations and guidance than i had asked for which is always a good sign, as with some other sites you just get the impression you are being palmed off with as little effort as possible.

Banking

With Stan James, banking is easy and swift.Depositing and withdrawals are available via many routes, namely Bank Draft, Bank Wire Transfer, Cashier's Check, Check, Citadel, InstaDebit, MasterCard, Money Order, Moneybookers, Visa, Visa Delta and Visa Electron. With some of these options proof of ID is necessary, but this is now a standard security process with a lot of sites and is in the benefit of the players, especially in this day and age.

8/10

Standard of Players

Some good regulars and some decent regulars, the good thing is that it will not take you long to spot these guys and focus on the huge school of fish swimming around them.

9/10

Loyalty Promotions

Loyalty points are earned while playing and contributing rake at Stan James. These loyalty points can be used as buy-ins to tournaments or to purchase goods from the loyalty store.

9/10

Summary

Stan James Poker has a lot to offer to all types of players, whatever your level or taste there are games for you to enjoy with the added likelihood of it being profitable. Part of a lively network with lively action.
