There was very little effort involved as I already had a Sky Bet sportsbook account and logged straight into Sky Poker using those details. There was no messy software installation needed as Sky Poker conveniently uses either of my web browsers.
This is a great feature if you like a quick game in your lunchbreak but have had your cyberhands tied by the technical department at work, or if you just like keeping your Windows registry clean and free of adware. I was playing within a few minutes. |

Software |
No additional software is needed as Sky Poker uses either Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox to run, your web browser uses Flash technology to deliver a visually impressive, fast and secure poker experience.
The lobby is simple with navigation made very easy thanks to numerous filters, simply click on the poker format you want to play and then apply the filters.
Money can be transferred to/from your sportsbook account instantly, so I was able to dip into my horse racing bankroll to fund my weeks play.
Your last 6 months hand history is available in a graphical format which makes reviewing your play a much easier task. |

Ring Games |
There are over 100 cash tables spread across a wide variety of stake levels, so whether you're an experienced Texas Hold'em veteran or just starting out, there's a table with similarly skilled opposition waiting to do battle.
The most appealing aspect has to be the televised cash tables where you can watch your play being reviewed by the Sky Poker inhouse experts on Sky channel 865.
If you like to study your opponents before you play them then this is the site for you. |

Tournaments |
Sky also televise their tournament poker, this afternoon I watched last nights Bounty Hunter tournament where 5 of the most established players on the site had a £50 bounty on their heads and players fought for their share of the £5500 prize pool.
This evening I plan on watching live action from The Open, a live daily tournament with a £5500 prize pool which starts on Sky channel 865 every 9pm.
Tomorrow I hope to be the star of the show. Satellites start from as little as £2.20. |

Sit & Gos |
Sky Poker offers a completely different Sit & Go experience, they have 10 seaters that payout to the top two players, 75% for 1st place and 25% for 2nd, this is an attractive proposition for those with high win rates as 75% is a very large payout for winning any tournament.
There are satellites leading to the Dusk Til Dawn offline event in Nottingham, qualifiers are available from £6.
I played a handful of the £10 Sit & Go's making £200 profit from them in the process, I found the standard to be exceptionally weak and am giving serious consideration to making this site one of my usual haunts. |

Support |
The usual support channels of toll free telephone, email and live chat are available; I can vouch for all methods of contact and highly recommend using their freephone line as the response is quick and the staff ever helpful.
I did'nt need to email them a scanned copy of my passport or face the Spanish inquisition to get my account unlocked, they went the extra mile to resolve any issues I had. |

Banking |
| Numerous payment methods are available, they accept Mastercard, Visa, Visa Electron, Solo, Maestro, Visa Delta and Laser. I made a small withdrawal to see how long it took and was pleased to see my bank balance increase after only 4 working days. |

Standard of Players |
Over the last 6 years I have literally played at every poker site on the Internet and the standard of opponent on Sky Poker is among the worst I've encountered, especially around GMT lunchtime.
I believe there's a significant amount of people using Sky Poker at work on their lunchbreaks, which means plenty of bluffing and loose play, money can be made simply by picking your spots well.
I also think the televised tournament and cash tables attract the type of player who cares more about getting on TV than profiting from poker.
Add to those factors that there are a lot of Sky Bet sportsbook customers who frequent Sky Poker and it makes for a very lucrative proposition. |

Loyalty Promotions |
Sky Poker reward their loyal customers in a number of ways, the most prolific method being Poker Points. At the time of writing, each new customer gets 500 points instantly credited into their account which they can buy into real money tournaments with. Player points are subsequently earned while you play, tournaments offer 10 points for every £1 in entrance fees paid, the cash tables earn you between 2 and 30 points for every 20 raked hands.
Be part of a very winnable monthly poker league where the top 10 finishers share a £2,000 prize fund
Every week the top 150 players are given entry into a private £500 freeroll just for them.
Qualify for the Sky Poker UK tour only at Sky Poker. At the time of writing Sky were running a series of offline tournaments at 6 of the UK's most prestigeous venues, leading to a televised grand final with a £25,000 guaranteed prize pool. |
