The installer is relatively large at 20 megabytes and takes a whole minute to download via a broadband connection, it's well worth the wait though.
It took another minute to enter my personal details and deposit money into my account.
There are a tonne of options to help you configure the software to how you like it, after I turned off animation and disabled avatars I was ready to start playing. |
8/10 | Software |
Full Tilt Poker is a cardroom for poker players made by poker players.
.The software has been designed accordingly; there are time banks for when you have a tough decision to make, a huge player note taking facility, player searching so you can find the fish more easily, a vast hand history to help you review your play, table resizing so you can manage your desktop space, play up to 16 tables simultaneously, the software is even Mac compatible, they have seriously thought of everything. |
10/10 | Ring Games |
Full Tilt is currently the 2nd largest online cardroom and their cash tables reflect this, there's always excellent traffic whatever the time is and you're furnished with all the information you need such as percentage of players seeing the flop, hands dealt per hour and average pot size, so it's very much possible to perform table selection. There are a wide variety of poker variants to choose from too, so whether your expertise lies in Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Stud or Razz, Full tilt has the game you've been looking for.
I spent an afternoon at the no limit Texas Hold'em tables, I started off horribly and only managed to end the session losing a small sum, I'm certain there's decent money to be made at this specific section of the site though. |
10/10 | | Tournaments |
There are millions of dollars up for grabs per week and a tournament starting every few minutes, you don't even have to be on time as there's late registration.
Sundays host some of the largest prize pools in online poker, the 3 most notable being their $350k, $750k and $200k guaranteed events, that's over a million in winnings every Sunday! The weekdays are pretty spectacular too with countless tournaments throughout the day, many with guaranteed prize pools ranging from $2k to $40k, so there will always be a tournament that fits your bankroll just around the corner. |
10/10 | Sit & Gos |
I spent most of my week playing Sit & Go's and found the traffic to be superb at both peak and off peak times, the standard here is noticably tighter than on other sites, there are a lot of regulars who multitable, so table selection is a must; that said, there's enough traffic for half decent players to consider them a positive equity proposition.
I managed to net slightly over $500 profit playing in the $10 games, multitabling 4 at a time. |
10/10 | Support |
Full Tilt may only offer email support, but the quality and speed of their reply impressed me very much, I fired across a couple of questions for them to answer and they responded within an hour.
Answers to the most likely questions can be found in their extensive FAQ section, I discovered a lot about Full Tilt and they way it works simply by reading the material on their excellent website. I wish more online cardrooms would have a rake calculator on their website, I used it to determine how much rake I was paying and I'm happy to report it was a very fair 5% across the board plus there's a no flop no drop policy on their ring games. |
8/10 | | Banking |
There are a number of ways to fund your account, they accept Visa, Mastercard, Meastro, Solo, Neteller, Ukash, Click2Pay, PaySafeCard, Moneybookers, ClickAndBuy, cash transfers and local bank transfers; most methods are instant except for the bank transfer which takes 3-5 working days.
I've had no problems withdrawing money from Full Tilt in the past and can vouch it's quick and secure. |
9/10 | Standard of Players |
I had a hunch the standard was going to be slightly tighter than at rival sites and I was'nt wrong; nevertheless the high volume guarantees there's plenty of average competition to be found and the fact that they still accept US customers ensures the games are highly aggressive with lots of hands being overplayed.
I reckon employing either a tight aggressive or loose aggressive approach will pay dividends and if the games are as low variance as I suspect them to be, proper money management should help lead to less fluctuations in your bankroll and more steady growth. |
8/10 | Loyalty Promotions |
Full Tilt offer a generous 100% initial deposit bonus up to $600, which you recieve by earning Full Tilt points as you play the real money cash tables and tournaments.
Normally it takes a sizable amount of poker to unlock all the bonus money, not so at Full Tilt; they release the money in $20 increments. If you really want to unlock your bonus quickly.
I recommend playing during their happy hour period where you can earn double or triple points.
The Iron Man promotion rewards loyal players for regular play, the more Full Tilt points you earn the higher your Iron Man status rises, the higher your status the more you're rewarded; this all translates to free tournament tokens, cash bonuses, entry into daily restricted freerolls and plenty other cool stuff. |
