Gus led a very sporting childhood, he was a youth tennis champion back in Copenhagen. He began playing Backgammon through his love of numbers and became proficient enough to consider himself world class, he spent a few years living in New York gambling by playing Backgammon, but as he began to make more money from poker than Backgammon, he started playing more tournaments and became an overnight success, partially because of his 4 WPT wins over 2 seasons.
